Arula Sweater – Premium Knit Sweaters for Every Season
Our Arula sweater is crafted from 100% superfine merino wool sourced from Australian farms, where fiber fineness is rigorously tested for softness. Each piece features ribbed cuffs and hem to hold its shape season after season, while the crew neck sits comfortably at the collarbone without pulling or stretching.
We designed this sweater for year-round layering—light enough to wear over a tee in spring, warm enough to anchor your coat on winter mornings. The mid-weight knit breathes naturally, regulating temperature whether you’re commuting or working from home. After hundreds of wear tests, we landed on a slightly relaxed fit through the body with sleeves that hit just past the wrist bone.

What the numbers mean
We work exclusively with certified non-mulesed sheep farms in the Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales, where cool alpine conditions produce wool with exceptional crimp and elasticity. Every bale is tested for fiber diameter—our standard is 18.5 microns or finer, which feels soft against bare skin without the itch common in coarser wool.
The yarn is spun in a family-run mill outside Melbourne that’s been operating since 1947. They use a worsted spinning process that aligns the fibers in parallel, creating a smooth surface that resists pilling. After dyeing, each batch undergoes a gentle enzyme wash to remove any residual vegetable matter and enhance the natural luster of the wool.
The Arula sweater fits true to size with about two inches of ease through the chest and waist. If you prefer a closer fit for tucking into trousers, we recommend ordering your usual size. For a roomier silhouette that layers easily over button-downs, size up one.
Sleeve Length & Body Proportions
Sleeves are cut with a slight taper from shoulder to wrist, so they don’t bunch when you push them up or layer under a jacket. The shoulder seam sits right at the edge of your natural shoulder, not dropped. Body length is designed to cover your belt line without extending past the hip bone—long enough to stay tucked, short enough to wear untucked without looking boxy. The same versatile silhouette that defines our tops collection carries through to every sweater we make, so pieces layer seamlessly no matter the combination.
Merino wool is naturally antimicrobial, so you can wear the Arula sweater multiple times between washes without odor buildup. When it’s time to launder, turn the sweater inside out and machine wash on a delicate cycle in cool water (30°C or below) with a wool-safe detergent. Avoid fabric softener, which coats the fibers and reduces breathability.
After washing, gently squeeze out excess water—never wring—and lay the sweater flat on a clean towel away from direct heat or sunlight. It typically air-dries in 6–8 hours. We don’t recommend hanging wet wool, as gravity can stretch the shoulders. For storage between seasons, fold the sweater and place it in a breathable cotton bag with a cedar sachet to deter moths.

Colorways & Seasonal Versatility
We release the Arula sweater in eight permanent colorways, from neutral Ivory and Sand to deeper tones like Forest and Charcoal. Each shade is achieved with low-impact dyes that meet OEKO-TEX Standard 100, ensuring no harmful residues remain in the finished fabric.
Three-Season Rotation
The 280-gram mid-weight knit works from late September through May in most climates. In autumn, wear it solo with chinos or layer it under a wool topcoat. Winter calls for a thermal base layer underneath and a puffer or parka on top. Come spring, the sweater pairs with linen trousers and canvas sneakers for a casual weekend look. We’ve seen customers wear it year-round by adjusting what goes over and under it.

Questions About the Arula Sweater
Yes, you can machine wash the Arula sweater on a delicate cycle in cool water using a wool-safe detergent. Turn it inside out before washing, avoid fabric softener, and lay it flat to dry. Do not tumble dry or hang it wet, as this can stretch the wool fibers.
The Arula sweater fits true to size with a relaxed silhouette. It has about two inches of ease through the chest and waist. If you prefer a closer fit for tucking in, order your usual size. For a roomier layering fit, size up one.
We use superfine merino wool with a fiber diameter of 18.5 microns. This is on the finer end of the merino spectrum, which makes it soft enough to wear against bare skin without itching. Coarser wools typically measure 22 microns or higher.
The 280-gram mid-weight knit works best in cool to moderate temperatures, roughly from autumn through late spring. Merino naturally regulates temperature and wicks moisture, so you can wear it on milder days without overheating. For true summer heat, it may be too warm unless you’re in air-conditioned spaces most of the day.
The worsted spinning process we use aligns wool fibers in parallel, which significantly reduces pilling compared to carded yarns. Wash the sweater inside out on a gentle cycle and avoid friction with rough surfaces like backpack straps. If you do notice minor pills, use a sweater comb or fabric shaver to gently remove them without damaging the knit.
The Arula sweater is available in eight permanent colorways: Ivory, Sand, Olive, Forest, Navy, Slate, Charcoal, and Black. All dyes meet OEKO-TEX Standard 100 for safety and environmental impact. Seasonal limited-edition colors may appear during fall and spring launches.
With proper care—washing in cool water, laying flat to dry, and storing folded—customers report wearing the Arula sweater for three to five years or longer before noticing significant wear. The reinforced shoulder seams and ribbed edges help the sweater maintain its shape over hundreds of wears. Avoid hanging it on a hook for extended periods, as this can stretch the shoulders.
