We built our black jeans for people who need one pair that works everywhere. Crafted from 12.5-ounce Japanese selvedge denim, these jeans hold their shape through long days without feeling stiff or restrictive.
The deep black shade stays true wash after wash, thanks to a reactive dye process that bonds pigment directly to the cotton fiber. Our slim-straight cut sits comfortably at the waist and tapers gently from knee to ankle, giving you a clean line that pairs as well with boots as it does with sneakers.
Each pair is sewn in our Los Angeles workshop using reinforced bartack stitching at stress points. We chose corozo buttons and copper rivets because they won’t corrode or tarnish over time. What the numbers mean
We source our denim from Kuroki Mills in Okayama, Japan—a family-run mill weaving selvedge fabric on vintage shuttle looms since 1950. The 12.5-ounce weight strikes a balance between durability and comfort, dense enough to resist abrasion yet breathable for year-round wear.
Reactive dyeing saturates each fiber rather than coating the surface, so the color won’t rub off on light upholstery or crack at the creases. Triple-needle felled seams along the outseam and inseam add strength where friction happens most. Every stitch is locked with a bartack at the pocket corners, belt loops, and fly, creating anchor points that distribute tension across the fabric instead of relying on a single thread.
Our black jeans use a true-to-size waist measurement with no vanity sizing. If you normally wear a 32-inch waist, order a 32. The slim-straight cut provides room through the seat and thigh while tapering from the knee down to a 15-inch leg opening, creating a streamlined silhouette that doesn’t cling.
