We designed Arula pants to move with you from morning coffee to evening plans without restriction. The stretch-woven nylon-spandex blend holds its shape through a full day of sitting, standing, and walking while keeping a clean, modern silhouette.
Articulated knees and a gusseted crotch eliminate pulling when you bend or climb stairs. The waistband sits flat against your skin—no elastic roll or pressure points. We kept hardware minimal: a single snap closure and a hidden zip fly that lies flush when fastened.
Arula pants work across seasons. The tight weave blocks wind on cool mornings, and the fabric breathes enough for warm afternoons. Reinforced belt loops hold up to daily wear, and the hem can be tailored without fraying.

What the numbers mean
The core fabric in Arula pants is a proprietary nylon-spandex blend we developed with a mill in Portugal. Unlike cotton-spandex blends that lose elasticity after a few washes, our tight-weave construction keeps its snap through dozens of cycles.
Four-way stretch means the fabric moves in every direction—lengthwise and crosswise—so you never feel tugging when you squat or reach overhead. The tight weave also resists pilling and snags better than looser knits. We tested samples on rough concrete and chain-link fences; the surface stayed smooth.
Articulated Knee Darts
We added subtle darts at the knee to pre-shape the fabric where your leg naturally bends. This prevents the fabric from pulling tight when you sit or kneel. The darts are stitched flat so they’re invisible when you stand.
Gusseted Crotch
A diamond-shaped gusset at the crotch seam eliminates the center pull that happens in flat-sewn pants. The gusset adds about an inch of fabric where inseams meet, giving you full range of motion without strain on the seams.
Arula pants include two slant hand pockets cut deep enough to hold a phone or wallet without items sliding out when you sit. The pocket bags are made from lightweight ripstop so they don’t add bulk or show lines through the outer fabric.
Rear welt pockets feature a single button closure to keep contents secure. The button is sewn through a reinforced bar tack that won’t pull loose over time. We use corozo buttons—a natural material harder than plastic—that hold thread better than resin alternatives.
Fit Across Sizes & Styling Notes
Arula pants follow a tapered-leg silhouette: roomier through the hip and thigh, narrowing gradually to a 15-inch leg opening on a size 32. The mid-rise (10.5 inches on medium) sits at your natural waist without riding low or too high.
We offer even waist sizes from 28 to 38. If you’re between sizes, we recommend sizing up—the fabric has enough stretch to accommodate slight variance, and a looser fit won’t restrict movement. The inseam is unhemmed at 34 inches so you can tailor to your exact length.

No. The nylon-spandex blend we use has high recovery, meaning it returns to its original shape after stretching. You might notice slight loosening during the first hour of wear as the fabric conforms to your body, but it won’t bag out at the knees or seat. Washing resets the fabric fully.
Yes. The micro-perforated weave allows airflow while maintaining a solid appearance. We’ve tested Arula pants in 90-degree heat, and testers reported no more warmth than wearing lightweight chinos. The fabric wicks moisture away from skin, so sweat evaporates quickly rather than sitting on the surface.
Arula pants have a mid-rise waist similar to classic chinos, but the leg is slightly tapered from knee to ankle. If you normally wear a 32 waist in chinos, order a 32 here. The stretch fabric accommodates movement, so you don’t need to size up for comfort like you might with rigid cotton pants.
The dye we use is solution-dyed, meaning color is added during fiber production rather than applied to finished fabric. This makes the color permanent and fade-resistant. We’ve run Arula pants through 50 wash cycles in our lab with no measurable color loss. Wash in cold water to preserve the fabric’s elasticity.
Yes. The fabric doesn’t fray when cut, and standard sewing machines handle it without special needles. Tell your tailor to use a stretch stitch or a slight zigzag to maintain flexibility at the hem. Most tailors charge the same as they would for hemming chinos.
They’re water-resistant but not waterproof. Light rain beads up and rolls off for about 10 minutes before the fabric starts absorbing moisture. We didn’t add a chemical DWR coating because it wears off over time and affects breathability. If you need full rain protection, layer a shell over them.
Yes. The slant hand pockets are cut deep—about 9 inches—and angled so items settle toward the back of the pocket when you sit. A phone won’t slide out unless you’re doing something acrobatic. The rear welt pockets have button closures to keep contents secure during active movement.
